Category Director Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Category Director to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Report on sales and growth opportunities;
- Create and communicate clear, impactful selling stories to all levels within the organization using data compiled from various sources;
- Analyze shopper data to effectively plan for product mix improvements;
- Work with teammates to ensure proper and timely placement of promotional products in retail locations;
- Develop go to market recommendations and strategies regarding assigned categories and cross promotions with other categories;
- Assist in store resets and new store setup;
- Develop impactful category analyses and consumer insights using a range of data sources to impact sales, including product placement recommendations;
- Create long term strategic plans regarding category and company growth;
- Participate in the planning of store layouts and product location for sales volume and stocking efficiency;
- Manage promotional and marketing plans for assigned categories and vendors;
- Other duties as assigned;
- Monitor Fareway and industry trends on a regular basis, including new products, technology and pricing comparing Fareway to industry players;
- Work directly with vendors to negotiate programing, resolve supply chain, problematic inventory, and invoice issues;
- Manage vendor contracts to ensure timely receipt of rebates and promotional funding;
- Develop, create, and recommend alternative solutions for profit and sales growth.
Requirements:
- Industry and category management experience can coincide;
- 10 years of food/beverage industry experience;
- Willingness to work as a part of a team and provide supervision of others;
- Knowledge of customer centric retailing principles and the analytics of customer purchase behavior;
- Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in the food/beverage industry;
- 10 years of experience working directly with category management functions;
- Results-oriented;
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience5 years of food/beverage industry experience;
- Excellent computer skills, with MS Office Applications: Word, Excel., PP;
- Strong professional communication and interpersonal skills;
- 5 years of experience working directly with category management functions;
- Knowledge of industry reporting tools;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Strong organizational skills including prioritizing, scheduling, and time management;
- Ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
