Sales Engineering Manager Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Sales Engineering Manager to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Develop product expertise to convey the value, benefits and differentiators of Contrast;
- Manage territorial schedules for optimum utilization of resources in assisting with customer and channel partner meetings;
- Hire and continually enable a team of experienced sales engineers;
- Establishing and maintaining strong relationships throughout the sales-cycle as a trusted advisor with prospects;
- Successfully coordinating multiple opportunities & POC’s concurrently;
- Coordinating with Project Management, Customer Success, Professional Services and Technical Operations during customer handoffs;
- Demonstrating the SecureLink product offering to technical staff and executive leadership;
- Creating training material for sales to help accelerate the team’s product and solution understanding for increased competency during the sales cycle;
- Participating in new hire training sessions for all company functions;
- Developing learning plans and setting goals with sales engineers to ensure continued growth in both soft and technical skills;
- Assist Channel team in ensuring Partner SE’s are trained and can support Netskope demos, POCs, and evaluations;
- Provide technical and business leadership for the SE organization promoting leadership by example;
- Maintain, grow and manage existing business relationships;
- Take an active role in your regions customer success and help resolve any customer satisfaction issues, escalating cross functionally when needed;
- Support field SE team in complex evaluations, troubleshooting, and challenging customer environments.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of enterprise pre-sales experience;
- Practical experience with modern DevOps tooling such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Packer and more;
- 2+ years software development experience with Java, .NET, Ruby, Python, or Node.js preferred;
- Proven leadership experience and adaptability to work in a fast-paced start-up environment;
- Ability to travel 30%+, or as needed;
- Bachelor or Masters Degree in Computer Science or related discipline;
- Ability to code – not an expert – but must have some programming ability;
- 2+ years of demonstrated management or supervisory-level experience;
- Specific application security experience is a big plus;
- Identify sales opportunities in the market with dealers;
- Willingness for extensive business travel;
- Engineering degree or Master’s degree in industrial engineering or mechanical engineering (preferred);
- Preferably, you have specialized in machine tool building;
- Good commercial skills;
- Experience in sales of sophisticated capital goods, preferably in sales of machine tools.
