Director, Learning & Development Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Director, Learning & Development to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Other duties as assigned;
- Conduct regular, effective one on one meetings with both direct and indirect reports;
- Build effective and positive working relationships with all leaders within the company to create a learning culture throughout the organization;
- Will partner with CHRO and People Partners on engagement survey approach and follow through;
- Create, implement and execute a companywide learning and development strategy;
- In partnership with divisional leadership, create and execute an effective employee retention plan;
- Adept at employee communications; can build a community of leaders and learners;
- Serve as the key point of contact for SMG trainers;
- Coordinate with sales leaders on ways to improve results through service excellence;
- Can measure both the qualitative/quantitative impact of our leadership programs;
- Equally strategic and operational; can provide a vision, but will also follow through as a “hands on” leader;
- Own the development of the company training strategy, working with department leadership to prioritize training initiatives;
- Collaborate with Talent Management, specifically CHG Corporate Training and Talent Acquisition teams;
- Monitors effectiveness of training programs and makes necessary changes to enhance overall effectiveness of programs;
- Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes.
Requirements:
- Ability to develop integrated training solutions from inception to post-delivery assessment;
- Strong consulting and influencing skills; ability to think strategically;
- 5 years of experience in leading and developing staff professionals;
- Embraces working and operating in a highly collaborative and communicative environment;
- Knowledge of learning and development technologies;
- Proven project manager, planner and organizer who can handle several tasks simultaneously;
- Knowledge of innovative, current adult learning techniques and methodologies and the application of those to learning in the corporate setting;
- High energy, positive, can do person;
- Experience building and growing complex professional relationships with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders and community members;
- Make things happen and relishes accountability;
- Advanced communication, influence and writing skills;
- Familiarity with SAISD school system is a plus;
- Interest and understanding of City Year’s work within the national service movement and education sphere;
- Understanding of latest trends in learning and development;
- Proven ability to understand an organization’s current/desired state and actions to close gaps.
