Sr. Art Director Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Sr. Art Director to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Is a team player and collaborates effectively with other creative and project team members;
- Presents to and collaborates with clients; participates and/or leads prototyping as necessary;
- Contributes to new business efforts through presentation design and intake meetings;
- Practices meticulous file maintenance and organization skills;
- Directs Jr. Designers and freelancers;
- Contributes strong creative concepts and develops those creative concepts into high quality deliverables;
- Manages time appropriately to adhere to deadlines;
- Consults with and takes direction from creative directors;
- Investigates and shares information about new trends, tools, and techniques;
- Designs digital and print media, with an eye to best practices in usability, design principles, and typographic excellence;
- Understand best practice in execution requirements and can anticipate future issues and concerns;
- Ensures deliverables meet best practices while also meeting the needs of clients;
- Attends brainstorms and project meetings, leading as needed;
- Participates in print and digital quality control processes to ensure optimal results.
Requirements:
- Solid knowledge of steps required in creative development process and the ability to perform those tasks in a timely and productive manner;
- Excellent presentation, communication, and time management skills;
- Creative thinking that understandes the “big idea,” and can drive and support the creative strategy across multiple projects in various media;
- At least 8+ years of design agency experience;
- Advanced knowledge of responsive visual design and print production;
- Current and ongoing interest in best practices and trends;
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, Advertising or Graphic Design preferred;
- Demonstrated typographic excellence;
- A relevant online portfolio or PDF of your current work, demonstrating strong conceptual, design and typography skills;
- Capacity to work and lead on several projects simultaneously;
- Demonstration of systems thinking applied to digital, identity, and print communications, including site-wide/identity-wide standards;
- Strong conceptual, design and typography skills;
- Ability to articulate creative ideas and “sell” your work to a group of your peers;
- A positive attitude that contributes to the overall success of a collaborative environment;
- 7+ years of integrated hands-on design across both print and digital media.
