The Sr Mechanical Engineer applies knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, machines, etc. Conducts product testing and creates models and prototypes. Designs, develops, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Being a Sr Mechanical Engineer requires a bachelor’s degree of Mechanical Engineering. May be involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of mechanical products. In addition, Sr Mechanical Engineer typically reports to a manager. Our company is looking for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Other duties as assigned;
  • Create detail drawings, assembly drawings, Bill of Materials, organize release packages, and update drawings;
  • Designs layouts, assemblies, schematics, and bills of materials to be used in producing custom machinery;
  • Make recommendations for quality and cost improvements;
  • Responds to change productively and handles other duties as required;
  • Develops risk mitigation strategies as a result of the requirements matrix and the available resources within the business;
  • Works closely with the assembly team to ensure the machine meets customer’s expectations;
  • Evaluate a customer’s application;
  • Develops a focus on least cost, safe design;
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and sales group;
  • Evaluates vendor bids and drawings to assure compliance with specifications;
  • Reviews rotating equipment vendor drawings for accuracy and completeness;
  • When required, lead / be responsible for the overall Wheel & Brake project;
  • Works closely with manufacturing and purchasing to assure the design is manufacturable;
  • Write internal reports as to status and technical merit of design/development.

Requirements:

  • Excellent technical, presentation and client interface skills;
  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes;
  • SME in compressors, turbines and other rotating equipment;
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts to project and development work, especially FEA;
  • Four-year mechanical engineering degree and a minimum of six years of design engineering experience;
  • Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing per ASME Y14.5M-1994 or similar;
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process. Sheet Metal Design;
  • Minimum B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent college degree;
  • CNC programming experience, particularly SolidCAM based programming;
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver equipment that meets the customer’s expectations and is within budget;
  • Interested in working on custom or “one-off” systems;
  • A solid background in manual machining, shop tools, and general mechanical experience;
  • Excellent time management skills; applicant must have the ability to complete projects on time and within budget;
  • Experience designing one-off through mass production level components.
