Controls Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Controls Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Good working knowledge of electrical code;
- Integration with business systems and hosts;
- Responsible for providing concept, budget, and schedule on project related Engineering Change Notices;
- New Programs;
- Prepare designs, specifications, analysis and recommendations for development of new products;
- Manage resolution of major equipment breakdowns and quality issues in the suites;
- Basic Knowledge of reading and programming C and C++ code. Preferred Skills;
- Up to 40% travel;
- Software systems programming, installation, debugging;
- Maximizes product yields by analyzing equipment, workflow, assembly methods & processes;
- Complete electrical engineering design and troubleshooting support as needed;
- Electrical schematic design;
- Develops and maintains computer, HMI and PLC programs;
- Assists with instruction and training of all employees to achieve company goals;
- The ability to occasionally lift 50 lbs to perform the functions of this position.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering;
- AutoCAD experience;
- Minimal knowledge of Physics and Fluid Dynamics;
- Requires in-depth knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering concepts and procedure;
- PLC programming experience with platforms of major suppliers such as Allen Bradley, GE, Mitsubishi, Siemens or Omron;
- Minimal knowledge of Process Control Analysis (Cp/Cpk);
- Successful track record of training others;
- Possess a bachelor’s degree or higher in an electrical or controls/automation discipline;
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering from an accredited college/university or equivalent experience;
- Have solid verbal and written communication skills;
- 5+ years of experience desired;
- Ability to analyze and diagnose automation problems;
- The ability to travel via air or ground to domestic and overseas customer sites minimally 20% of the time;
- Siemens S7-300 and/or S7-1500 PLC and Siemens Comfort Panel HMI programming (a plus);
- Pneumatics experience.
