Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students as a contract Special Education Teacher in the resource classroom setting. There are two positions available—one at the elementary level and one at the middle school level—so you can specify your grade preference. This opportunity begins as soon as possible and runs through June 10, 2027.

Your work hours will total 35 per week, following either the 7:35 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. schedule at the middle school or the 7:55 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. schedule at the elementary level. You’ll be supporting a small, manageable caseload of 10 students (elementary) or 11 students (middle school), focusing on fostering growth, independence, and academic achievement as a resource teacher.

Key Qualifications:

• Current, active Michigan Special Education Teacher license (please provide documentation upon applying)
• Passion for working with students in grades K-8 within a resource model
• Experience developing and implementing IEPs tailored to individual student needs
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with staff and families
• Ability to adapt and modify lesson plans for diverse learning styles and abilities
• Familiarity with compliance procedures and documentation

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction to students with varying exceptionalities in a resource room setting
• Develop, implement, and track progress on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to facilitate inclusion and student success
• Maintain effective communication with parents and guardians regarding student performance
• Use data-driven decision making to guide instruction and intervention strategies
• Foster a positive, supportive classroom environment
