Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students in vibrant learning environments in the Athens and East Leroy areas. This contract position is ideal for experienced Special Education Teachers passionate about making a meaningful difference for elementary and middle school learners. Two positions are available—one at the elementary level and one at the middle school level. If you have a preference, please specify during the application process.

Both assignments are resource classroom positions with manageable caseloads: 10 students at the elementary level and 11 students at the middle school level. The contract runs through June 10, 2027 (tentative), offering stability while you further develop your skills and impact.

Qualifications:

• Active Michigan Special Education Teaching License (documentation required with application)
• Demonstrated experience working with elementary and/or middle school students in a resource setting
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with educators, families, and support staff
• Ability to tailor instruction to individual needs and foster an inclusive classroom environment
• Organized, flexible, and innovative in your teaching approach

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, individualized instruction to students with varying learning needs
• Manage caseload, develop and implement IEPs, and track progress effectively
• Collaborate with general education teachers and support personnel
• Communicate proactively with families and stakeholders
• Maintain compliance with state and federal special education guidelines

Scheduling & Locations:

• Elementary schedule: 7:55 a.m. – 3:10 p.m. at East Leroy Elementary
• Middle school schedule: 7:35 a.m. – 2:40 p.m. at Athens High School
• Consistent weekly schedule of 35 hours
