About the Opportunity
A well-established, mission-driven organization in Springfield, IL is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Accountant to join its finance team. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting broader accounting functions in a collaborative environment.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary: $55,000 – $60,000
- 15% employer retirement contribution

- Process and manage full-cycle payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Maintain payroll records, deductions, and benefit allocations
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare related journal entries
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Support audits and reporting related to payroll and benefits
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure data integrity
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- 2+ years of payroll or accounting experience
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of payroll systems and Microsoft Excel
- Understanding of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
