divh2Administrative Assistant II, Special Education/h2pPosition Title: Administrative Assistant II, Special Education/ppAssignment Location: Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, MN, in the Transition Education Service Alternative (TESA) program./ppHours per Day: 8.0/ppSchedule: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, 226 days per year/ppAnticipated Start Date: July 1, 2026 (potentially before)/ppStarting At: $24.12 per hour, per the Office Professionals contract/ppPosition Overview: Under the supervision of the Assistant Director/Principal, the Administrative Assistant II completes various data entry requests, maintains records, reports, database records and files, provides general information for staff, students, parents, and the general public, and performs related work as apparent or assigned. In this role, the administrative assistant must utilize knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic, organizational skills coordinating work flow and activities, and general knowledge of office equipment, computers, and various software programs including accounting software. The individual in this position has the ability to analyze and interpret policy and procedural guidelines. He or she must be able to type at a reasonable rate of speed, prepare effective and correct correspondences on routine matters, and perform routine office management details without referral to his or her supervisor. In this role, it is vital to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in written format, and to resolve problems and inquiries in a manner that establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with school personnel, students, parents, and the general public./ppResponsibilities:/pulliPerform program-specific administrative functions; compose, review, and edit correspondences and reports with consistency./liliComplete financial transactions with public and district personnel./liliAct as a resource and secretary for department staff, assisting them with their daily duties and preparing presentations, notes, and publications for their review./liliAct as a resource for parents, students, non-district staff, and the general public to provide information and facilitate access to and collaboration with district programs and services./liliObtain and maintain student records; process applications and record requests./liliAnswer phones, transferring calls or taking messages./liliCoordinate purchase of supplies and monitor/track budget expenditures./liliAssist in recording, updating, and maintaining files./liliCoordinate arrangements and communication supporting student transportation to district programs./liliCoordinate District van check out/in and annual van inspections./liliPerforms other job-related duties, as assigned./li/ulpQualifications:/pulliHigh school diploma or GED with some experience working as an administrative assistant with mid- to high-level responsibilities; administrative assistant experience in a school setting preferred./liliSelf-starter with a positive attitude./liliEvidence of good communication skills, written and verbal, and good organizational skills./liliEvidence of excellent computer skills, working with Word, Excel, and Google Docs./liliAbility to learn a variety of web based programs such as SPED Forms, Infinite Campus, and TOC./liliAbility to problem solve and arrange staff coverage in coordination with Frontline, our staff attendance system, under short-notice deadlines./liliAbility to work as a team member with staff, parents, and community members./liliAbility to interact and build positive relationships with students of varying ability levels and skills./li/ulpPhysical Requirements:/pulliWork regularly requires sitting and frequently requires reaching with hands and arms./liliOccasionally requires exertion of up to 25 pounds of force, standing, walking, crouching, pushing or pulling, and lifting./liliWork has standard vision requirements; vocal communication and hearing is required for expressing or exchanging ideas and perceiving information./liliWork is generally in a moderately quiet location./li/ulpDistrict Profile: Intermediate School District 917 provides special education, career technical education (CTE), and/or alternative learning for nine member districts in the south metro. Our programs are located in more than 20 sites throughout the south metro, including Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) where our district office is located.
