Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care to surgical patients, ensuring the delivery of individualized treatment plans based on patient evaluations.
• Conduct daily rounds to monitor patient progress and respond swiftly to any emerging medical needs, while maintaining clear communication with both patients and team members.
• Perform assessments, examinations, and diagnostic procedures, effectively identifying and analyzing patients' health conditions to develop actionable treatment plans.
• Facilitate transitions of care by managing hospital admissions and discharges, ensuring that patients receive thorough pre and post-operative education and instructions.
• Assist in the operating room during surgeries, taking on the role of first assistant in laparoscopic and robotic procedures and executing minor procedures as needed.
• Engage in emergency department and critical care unit consults, extending our surgical expertise to patients in acute settings.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate professional ethics and sensitivity during all interactions.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role will serve a diverse patient population, including individuals across various age groups requiring general surgery procedures. Your proactive approach will ensure that each patient receives tailored care, contributing to their recovery and long-term health. By participating in education and support, you will help patients understand their treatment processes and promote compliance with medical guidelines.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
• Current board certification as a Physician Assistant.
• Active state licensure as a Physician Assistant and DEA license.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in surgery and hospital medicine is preferred, with a special emphasis on OR experience as a first assistant, particularly in laparoscopic and robotic techniques.
• Strong familiarity with clinical workflows and a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment will be beneficial.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this position ranges from $140,000 to $180,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
