Key Responsibilities

• Functioning autonomously as a key healthcare provider, the Physician Assistant will work under the supervision of a general surgeon to ensure comprehensive patient management throughout various care settings.
• Conduct thorough assessments of patients, including reviewing their medical history, performing physical examinations, and ordering diagnostic tests to make informed clinical decisions.
• Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to patients' needs and monitor their progress, adjusting care strategies as required.
• Assist in surgical procedures, including taking a role in the operating room as a first assistant during laparoscopic and robotic surgeries, ensuring optimal surgical outcomes.
• Facilitate efficient patient flow by managing daily rounds, writing orders, and coordinating hospital admissions and discharges.
• Deliver both pre-operative and post-operative patient education, ensuring that patients and their families understand care plans and recovery expectations.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
• Engage in continuous learning and participate in professional development activities to enhance skills relevant to surgical care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Physician Assistant will manage a diverse patient population ranging from adolescents to adults, requiring proficient skills in addressing varied health concerns. The emphasis is on delivering personalized care with a focus on achieving optimal surgical outcomes and enhancing the patient experience from pre-surgery stages through recovery.

Qualifications

• A Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program is required.
• State licensure as a Physician Assistant and board certification.
• A valid DEA license for prescribing medications.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification to be completed within 12 months of hire.
• A minimum of two years of advanced practice experience in surgical settings, preferably with first assist in laparoscopic and robotic procedures.

Preferred Experience

While candidates with direct surgical or hospital medicine experience will be prioritized, individuals with other relevant experience and a demonstrated ability to thrive in a surgical environment may also be considered. A proactive attitude towards learning practice flow and enhancing patient care is essential.

Compensation and Benefits

The Physician Assistant position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from USD 140,000 to 180,000, depending on experience.
