Work Environment

This role will be situated within a collaborative hospital environment, where healthcare professionals work together to provide outstanding care. As a Physician Assistant, you will engage directly with other healthcare providers, nurses, and specialists in a supportive atmosphere that emphasizes teamwork and shared goals. The work setting is onsite, allowing for immediate access to surgical teams as well as state-of-the-art medical equipment in the operating room and various patient care areas within our facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Function as an independent healthcare provider under the supervision of a licensed physician, delivering comprehensive surgical care while demonstrating clinical expertise across various environments including primary, acute, and specialty care.

• Conduct thorough patient assessments, including examining, diagnosing, and developing treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.

• Perform daily rounding, write orders, and facilitate smooth processes for hospital admissions and discharges, ensuring each patient receives high-quality, individualized care.

• Provide education and instructions to patients and families regarding pre-operative and post-operative care, helping to alleviate concerns and improve health outcomes.

• Assist in the operating room by performing minor procedures and acting as first assist during surgical operations, utilizing both laparoscopic and robotic methodologies as required.

• Participate in emergency department and critical care unit consults, contributing to comprehensive care strategies for post-operative patients.

• Maintain detailed and organized patient records, ensuring data is accurate and readily available for clinical review.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Physician Assistant will work with diverse patient demographics encompassing all ages, particularly those undergoing surgical procedures. You will be integral in managing the complete surgical journey—from pre-operative evaluations to post-operative follow-ups—ensuring patients receive compassionate and coordinated care throughout their surgical experience at Universal City Medical.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies.

• Board certification as a Physician Assistant.

• State Licensed Physician Assistant with an active DEA License.

• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification must be obtained within the first 12 months of hire.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of two years of advanced practice experience in surgical settings or hospital medicine.

• Experience as a first assist in the operating room, particularly with laparoscopic and robotic surgery techniques.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this position ranges from USD 140,000 to USD 180,000, commensurate with experience. This role is also benefits-eligible, offering a comprehensive package designed to support your professional and personal well-being.
