Staff Accountant

Our client in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a variety of responsibilities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end close activities, account reconciliations, and fixed assets. This is a full-time, direct hire position that offers the opportunity to work remotely 2 days a week after six months of initial training. A strong compensation and benefit package is offered.

Staff Accountant Responsibilities:

• Process accounts payable, including coding, entering, and reviewing vendor invoices
• Generate vendor payments through check runs, ACH transactions, and manual payments
• Reconcile accounts payable and general ledger accounts
• Prepare account reconciliations and assist with monthly and year-end closing activities
• Post journal entries, accruals, estimates, and other financial transactions
• Manage employee travel and expense reporting
• Maintain fixed asset records and accounting documentation
• Post cash receipts and apply payments to customer accounts
• Monitor customer accounts and assist with collections on past-due balances
• Prepare and file sales and use tax, property tax, and 1099 reporting
• Prepare cash flow reporting and other financial analyses

Requirements for Staff Accountant:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and month-end close activities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel
• Experience with SAP or another ERP system
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
