Job Description
Summary / Objective
The Human Resources Generalist provides comprehensive day-to-day HR support for assigned manufacturing and business operations at Habasit America. This position primarily supports non-exempt employees and frontline leaders while serving as a backup HR resource for exempt employees and leaders as needed.
This role supports the full employee lifecycle — including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, HRIS administration, benefits and leave coordination, training, compliance, and employee engagement — and works closely with the HR Manager, Payroll Manager, and department leaders to ensure employees receive timely, consistent, and professional HR support.
Essential Functions
In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
- Serve as the primary day-to-day HR resource for assigned non-exempt employees, supervisors, and department leaders; provide backup support for exempt employees and leaders when needed.
- Build effective working relationships across manufacturing, distribution, and business functions; respond to employee and leader questions regarding policies, attendance, benefits, leave, performance, and other employment matters.
- Support routine to moderately complex employee relations matters, including complaints, workplace concerns, disciplinary actions, performance discussions, and terminations; assist with investigations and escalate sensitive or high-risk matters to the HR Manager.
- Manage full-cycle recruitment for assigned non-exempt positions, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, offer coordination, pre-employment processing, and maintaining accurate applicant records.
- Coordinate and facilitate new hire orientation; prepare onboarding materials; partner with hiring managers, IT, Safety, and Payroll to support new hire readiness; and support structured check-ins designed to improve integration and retention.
- Process employee lifecycle transactions in the HRIS, including new hires, promotions, transfers, compensation changes, status changes, and terminations; maintain accurate personnel files and employment records.
- Serve as an HR resource for timekeeping and payroll-related questions; partner with the Payroll Manager to resolve discrepancies and communicate approved employee transactions within established deadlines.
- Assist employees with benefit enrollment, qualifying life events, and general benefit questions; support administration of leave programs including FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation, and short-term disability.
- Support annual and periodic performance review processes; assist managers with coaching documentation, written warnings, performance improvement plans, and follow-up on outstanding actions.
- Coordinate required employee training, certifications, and development activities; maintain accurate training records and follow up on incomplete or expired requirements.
- Coordinate employee recognition programs, service awards, and referral bonuses; support engagement surveys, focus groups, workplace events, and initiatives designed to improve employee experience and retention.
- Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws; maintain personnel files and HR records in accordance with company requirements and ensure confidential records are stored separately and securely.
- Enter, maintain, and verify employee data in the HRIS; generate standard HR reports and track key metrics including headcount, turnover, open positions, time-to-fill, training completion, and leave activity.
- Use HR data and workforce analytics to track key metrics, identify trends, and support data-driven recommendations on headcount, turnover, retention, attendance, and other workforce matters; assist in preparing workforce reports and dashboards for management review.
