Exciting Opportunity for Postpartum Registered Nurse!

Job Description:


- Unit: Postpartum
- Number of Postpartum Beds: 28 beds
- Birth Statistics: Approximately 3,300 births per year
- Certifications Required: BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Nurse Ratios: 1:4 couplet care
- Fetal Heart Monitoring System: Fetal Link
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Cerner
- Charge Nurse: Yes (may take patient assignment if needed)
- Nurse Aides/OB Technicians: Available based on census (1-2 usually)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Call Requirement: No call required
- Holiday Requirement: One major and one minor holiday
- Scrub Color: Navy
- Telemetry: Nihon Kohden
- Ventilators: No
- OB/Neonatologist On-Site: OB attending available 24/7
- RT Available 24/7: Yes
- Pharmacy Available 24/7: Yes
- Shifts: 12-hour shifts (7 PM to 7 AM)
- Floating: Expected to float to NICU for feeders and growers, and Peds (low acuity patients, e.g., RSV, pneumonia)
- Floor-Specific Orientation: 3 shifts on unit
- Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients:
- 20 weeks and above
- High-risk patients (blood pressure issues, multiples, diabetes, lack of prenatal care, substance abuse)
- No gyn surgeries on postpartum


- Additional Notes:
- Must have 4 years of postpartum experience or more
- Travel experience preferred
- 13th largest center for births in California
- Perm staff is receptive to travelers
- Open-mindedness to unit and staff function is essential


- Cancellation Policy: Facility may cancel 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
