Key Responsibilities\n

• Develop and implement action plans for mental health crises, determining the necessity for 5150/5585 involuntary detention applications, ensuring your decisions are rooted in compassion and a commitment to patient care.

• Train law enforcement personnel in effective techniques for de-escalating mental health episodes, which contributes to reduced use of force and promotes a more humane response to crises.
\n
• Provide thorough case management in collaboration with third-party entities such as the Department of Mental Health and psychiatric facilities, ensuring continuous support and monitoring of patients under your care.
\n
• Maintain detailed records of patient interactions and mental health evaluations, upholding patient confidentiality and aligning with best practices in documentation.
\n
• Communicate with law enforcement and mental health service providers effectively, ensuring relevant information is relayed swiftly to facilitate appropriate responses to crises.
\n
• Conduct field evaluations alongside police officers, assessing individuals' mental health status and determining the necessary steps for intervention.
\n
• Offer short-term crisis counseling to non-violent patients facing mental health episodes, providing immediate support and guidance to help stabilize their situation.

• Accompany law enforcement on mental health-related calls, ensuring that mental health considerations are prioritized in community interventions.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

You will primarily serve arrestees and community members living with various mental health challenges. Our focus is on those experiencing immediate crises, as well as individuals who may require ongoing support or connection to mental health resources within the community. Your role will facilitate a compassionate and respectful approach to mental health treatment, creating a safe space for individuals to recover and thrive.

Qualifications\n

• A Bachelor's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.

• A valid and active Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) credential.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders, including law enforcement, hospital staff, and psychiatric professionals.

• A proactive approach to managing multiple tasks and responsibilities effectively.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits\n
