About the Role

The Company is seeking a Managing Director of Finance and Operations to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and overseeing internal organizational processes and infrastructure supports, including finance, administration, human resources, IT, and facilities. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the company can continue to deliver exceptional service to its community. The Managing Director will also be tasked with fostering a high-performing, collaborative, and values-driven organizational culture, and will work closely with the Controller. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and detail-oriented leader with expertise in budgeting, financial management, accounting, operations, and business growth strategies. Experience in the bookstore or publishing industry is a significant advantage. Key responsibilities for the Managing Director of Finance and Operations include financial management, operations management, team and culture leadership, human resources management, and business development. The role demands a candidate with a minimum of 5 years' of relevant experience, strong business acumen, and the ability to analyze and present financial and operational data effectively. The candidate should have a deep knowledge of accounting best practices, advanced critical thinking skills, and experience in identifying and implementing new systems and processes for greater efficiency. The role also requires proficiency in financial management software, the ability to travel as needed, and a commitment to the mission and values of the company. The ideal candidate will be strategic, entrepreneurial, and innovative, with superior organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
