Administrative Assistant III

Salary: Depends on Qualifications Location : Lorman, MS Job Type: Full-Time Staff Job Number: FY202600107 Department: President's Office Opening Date: 03/27/2026 Job Title Administrative Assistant III Essential Job Functions Serves as administrative assistant to the Executive Assistant to the President, providing or overseeing reception services, scheduling appointments, and supervising other administrative support personnel Performs complex technical assignments or program responsibility Serves as the communication hub of the department by communicating information from the supervisor to others, collecting and organizing information requested by the supervisor from others, making information available to others, and providing more complex information on processes specific to the department to appropriate parties Supports administrative business functions by maintaining the departmental website and data bases, scheduling the use of conference rooms, and maintaining security of equipment, files, and records. Organizes, coordinates, plans, and conducts departmental events Manages multiple departmental accounts with by reconciling accounts monthly, maintaining running balances of sub-accounts, and preparing financial reports which are relies on by the supervisor to make financial decisions Assists with employment processes by monitoring and maintaining credential files of applicants, preparing master files for search committees, preparing correspondence to applicants, entering required information into the applicant database, preparing required documents and assisting new employees with processes associated with onboarding Trains, assigns work, and reviews the work of full and part-time employees and student workers Other related duties, as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in office administration or related field Four (4) years of increasingly responsible clerical, secretarial, and office administrative support experience, including three (3) years of experience at a level comparable to an Administrative Assistant II Knowledge Skills and Abilities Knowledgeable of personnel principles and office management practices Knowledgeable of database applications, web content management, and administrative business systems Grounding in results achievement and strong customer focus Keen sense of teamwork and demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills with individuals at all levels Ability to work effectively without direct or ongoing supervision Ability to maintain departmental financial records and accounts and prepare financial reports as required Excellent time management skills Sound problem solving skills EEO Statement Alcorn State University is expressly committed to providing equal employment opportunities without regard to race, color, national or ethnic origin, ancestry age, religion or religious creed, disability or handicap, sex or gender identity and/or expressions, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal, state or local law.
