Exciting opportunities await for dedicated Special Education Teachers seeking a rewarding role supporting middle school students. Two full-time positions are available for the upcoming academic year, offering the chance to make a significant impact in a thriving educational environment. This contract role runs from August 5th through May 21st, 2027, with important pre-service activities leading up to the start of classes, including new SPED training on July 29th and teacher pre-planning from July 31st to August 4th.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid and active GaPSC certification in Special Education General Curriculum, covering middle school grades
- A passion for teaching and advocating for students with diverse needs
- Ability to collaborate with fellow educators, administrators, and support staff
- Organized, flexible, and able to adapt to changing classroom dynamics
- Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development
- Previous experience in a middle school or similar setting is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s abilities and needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to foster student success
- Monitor, document, and report on student progress and goals
- Create a supportive, inclusive classroom environment
- Participate in professional development activities, including required training and pre-planning sessions
- Stay current with best practices and regulatory requirements for special education
