TDS Proteins API USP Co-Op

Johnson & Johnson seeks motivated co-op students to support upstream process development for mammalian cell culture and bioreactor optimization in Malvern, PA. The six-month position (January–June 2027) involves hands-on work with CHO cell cultures, process modeling, data analytics, and manufacturing scale-down studies.

Responsibilities

• Support CHO cell culture, media development, bioreactor operation, and process optimization studies
• Design and conduct shake-flask and automated high-throughput bioreactor experiments
• Evaluate impact of media components and process parameters on cell culture performance and product quality attributes
• Develop and apply mechanistic, data-driven, or hybrid models to predict process outcomes
• Analyze experimental and process data using statistical and analytical techniques; present findings to internal and external partners

Requirements

• Completed freshman year at accredited university; pursuing Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, engineering, or related discipline
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Experience with aseptic mammalian cell culture techniques for laboratory-focused work
• Bioreactor operation experience for bioreactor-focused assignments
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities on a team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
