Administrative Officer 5

Position Overview Are you a dynamic and experienced leader with a passion for mentoring new managers, coaching teams, and fostering leadership skills at all levels? Have you led employee engagement efforts to reinforce a high‑performing, positive and inclusive culture? Are you an experienced administrator who has performed important management functions of a large department, implemented and overseen programs which utilize goal‑setting practices to drive program improvements? The Administrative Officer 5 will assist the Director in advancing the Bureau’s mission, vision, and goals by leading employee engagement efforts, motivating and mentoring managers and staff, and coaching and advising supervisors on managerial issues. Description of Work and Responsibilities This position provides leadership and coordination across several major program areas within the Department of Labor & Industry, Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, supporting the Director in guiding operations, developing strategies, and improving statewide services. As an Administrative Officer 5, you will perform the following duties: Program Leadership: Guide the daily work of multiple divisions to support consistent and effective operations. Staff Development: Mentor managers and supervisors to build skills, strengthen teamwork, and promote a positive work culture. Policy Direction: Develop and refine procedures that improve program performance and ensure alignment with state requirements. Operational Oversight: Review program activities to confirm accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to applicable laws. Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with internal and external partners to share information and address program needs. Work Schedule and Benefits Full‑time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home part‑time, required to report on‑site three days per week. Telework is subject to change. Salary: Starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases. Qualifications One year as an Administrative Officer 4 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title), or Eight years of progressively responsible management or staff work, including personnel management, fiscal management, budgeting, or procurement, plus relevant training from a four‑year college or university, or Any equivalent combination of experience and training. You must meet the PA residency requirement. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
