Job Opportunity – Medical Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse – Wisconsin

Start Date: October 26, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Evening/Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 1900-0730. Weekend and holiday rotations based on operational need. One pre-approved time off period available per contract.

• Diverse patient population including medical, surgical, bariatric, and orthopedic cases
• Epic charting system with strong interdisciplinary support including IV teams, pharmacy, phlebotomy, and rapid response teams
• Patient ratio of 6:1 on weekends with float requirements to other units as needed
• 20 hours of orientation provided; free on-site parking

Requirements:

• Active Wisconsin RN license or Compact RN license
• BLS certification required (American Heart Association only)
• Minimum two years of acute care experience within the last three years
• Epic charting system experience required
• Must successfully pass telemetry competency exam prior to start (80% passing score required; 100% accuracy on lethal rhythms)
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from facility location

Clinical Skills:

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• IV therapy including starting/maintaining IVs, PICC line management, central line blood draws
• Blood product administration and heparin/insulin drip management
• Post-operative care for bariatric, orthopedic trauma, total joint replacement, and neurosurgery patients
• Wound care/wound VAC, feeding tube management, colostomy/ileostomy care
• Experience with isolation precautions, PCA pumps, oxygen administration, and rapid response protocols

Patient Population:

• Adults and geriatric patients with medical diagnoses including COPD, heart failure, hypertension, diabetes, infections, and substance withdrawal
• Surgical patients including bariatric weight loss procedures, orthopedic surgeries (hip, knee, shoulder replacements), neurosurgery spine cases, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, and endocrine procedures
• Daily census of 24 patients across 27 beds
