XLAI is a commission-only sales engine that helps B2B SaaS founders drive revenue growth without adding headcount risk. The company operates as a lean outbound team, researching 50-100 qualified prospects per week and hard-qualifying every lead so clients only demo with strong opportunities. XLAI's model is performance-based, with no upfront costs or monthly retainers, and compensation only triggered when clients get paid. The team specializes in post-product-market-fit SaaS companies with ACVs in the $10K-$100K range and sales cycles of 30-90 days, aligning incentives directly with client success. XLAI focuses on delivering scalable, predictable pipeline while maximizing the share of revenue retained by its clients. Role Description The Sales Development Representative (SDR) at XLAI is a remote, commission-only, independent contractor (1099) role - this is our first hiring push, so you'd be joining at the ground floor. The SDR researches and identifies target accounts within an assigned ideal customer profile, builds tailored outreach lists, and runs outbound campaigns via email, LinkedIn, and text/WhatsApp where appropriate to generate qualified opportunities. This role involves qualifying responses against defined criteria, booking discovery/demo calls with real buyers, and handing off qualified prospects to the client or closing team. The SDR collaborates with the XLAI team in regular sessions to refine messaging, share what's converting, and improve outbound performance together. There's no manager assigning daily activity quotas and no fixed hours - you run your own pipeline on your own schedule. The trade-off: this is commission-only, and payout follows the client's sales cycle, typically 30-90 days from a booked meeting to your first check. It rewards people who can build pipeline before they need the income from it. Compensation: 4% of the total value of every deal that closes from a meeting you booked. No base, no cap. Qualifications Comfortable with Inside Sales fundamentals - managing prospect interactions, handling objections, and moving opportunities through the early stages of a sales conversation Able to do Lead Generation and Business Development work independently - researching accounts, identifying decision-makers, and creating a consistent flow of qualified opportunities from an assigned ICP Strong written communication - a cold email that a busy executive actually replies to matters more here than a resume full of titles B2B SaaS or technology sales experience is a plus, not required; comfort working in a metrics-driven, self-directed environment matters more Resilience in a high-activity outbound role, a collaborative working style, and a growth mindset - the skills that transfer to any sales career afterward This probably isn't the right fit if you need guaranteed income in the next two months, want a manager structuring your day, or are only looking for warm/inbound leads.
