Naval Subject Matter Expert (Cleared)

Role Overview
Apply deep naval and maritime expertise to help train next-generation AI systems supporting a high-impact project informing Navy decision-making at the Pentagon. You will turn operational, programmatic, or intelligence experience into nuanced analysis, actionable recommendations, and clear briefings for senior audiences. Prior AI experience is not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop expert analysis of naval operations, platforms, and doctrine using direct fleet, program, or intelligence experience.
- Assess and synthesize classified and unclassified operational or program data to support Navy planning and requirements.
- Prepare concise written assessments and high-level briefings for senior military and civilian leaders.
- Coordinate with Navy, Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, and industry stakeholders to gather insights and align work with mission objectives.
- Interpret and communicate recent developments in naval capabilities and maritime security relevant to project objectives.
- Handle TS/SCI-level classified materials in accordance with project and facility protocols.
Qualifications
- At least 10 years of experience in the U.S. Navy, MARAD/DOT, or comparable maritime or defense roles.
- Experience at the O-4/O-5 or GS-13/14-equivalent level, or demonstrated subject-matter authority.
- Strong naval domain knowledge, classified-environment fluency, stakeholder navigation, analytical judgment, and executive or leadership briefing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to write and brief for executive or flag-level defense or government audiences.
- Familiarity with Pentagon processes, OPNAV, NAVSEA, or PEO environments, including cross-stakeholder coordination.
- Experience exercising analytical judgment in classified or high-stakes projects.
- Intelligence analysis or Intelligence Community experience is a strong asset.
- A master''s degree in national security, defense studies, engineering, or a related field is desirable.
Work Terms
- Remote contract engagement.
- Work involves secure-environment requirements and handling classified materials.
Compensation
$50 to $100 per hour.
Eligibility
- An active TS/SCI clearance is strongly preferred.
- At minimum, candidates must have held a Secret clearance within the past 24 months and be eligible for TS/SCI reinstatement.
