You will collaborate with dedicated professionals, delivering instruction and support to elementary-aged students with varying learning needs. Depending on district specifics, you may serve in a resource/inclusion capacity—helping students with mild-to-moderate disabilities succeed in the general education setting—or within a self-contained classroom, supporting individualized academic and behavioral plans.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Valid Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license appropriate for Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary grade bands
• Compliance with Rhode Island’s Right to Read Act: Already certified in, or able to complete, Rhode Island Structured Literacy proficiency within one year of hire
• Passion for fostering inclusive learning and empowering students of all abilities
• Strong ability to collaborate and communicate with students, families, and educational teams
• Prior experience supporting elementary students in a special education setting is advantageous

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students
• Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs
• Provide direct instruction and in-class support as assigned
• Track and report progress, collaborating with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Maintain accurate, compliant documentation and adhere to all relevant district and state guidelines
