Property Accountant

Company: AI/SaaS Firm - Real Estate Role: Property Accountant Salary: $100,000 - $150,000/annually + equity Location: New York City - Onsite 5 days/week About the Role: Our client is seeking a Property Accountant to support accounting operations and help ensure financial processes are accurate, consistent, and aligned with business needs. This individual will serve as a subject matter resource for accounting-related matters, partnering with internal teams to support process improvements, system enhancements, and operational activities. The ideal candidate combines a strong accounting foundation with the ability to work cross-functionally, communicate effectively, and contribute to ongoing process optimization efforts. Must have property accounting experience, ideally with residential properties. Responsibilities: Provide guidance on accounting processes, transactions, and operational activities to support business functions Collaborate with cross-functional teams to help define business requirements and ensure accounting considerations are appropriately addressed Review financial calculations, adjustments, reconciliations, and transaction activity to promote accuracy and consistency Participate in testing and validation activities related to new processes, systems, or workflow enhancements Assist in developing documentation, procedures, and reference materials to support accounting operations Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and strengthen internal controls Support ongoing accounting projects and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives Serve as a resource for stakeholders by providing accounting-related insights and recommendations Experience: 4-5+ years of accounting, financial reporting, property accounting, or related experience Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting processes, and general ledger activities Experience supporting operational teams and working across multiple stakeholders Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to translate business needs into practical accounting solutions Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Experience with financial systems, ERP platforms, or business applications Familiarity with process improvement, system implementations, or workflow automation initiatives Exposure to technology-enabled business environments is a plus Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
