Step into a rewarding role supporting young students in a dynamic instructional environment just outside Des Plaines, IL. This contract position offers the opportunity to make a real difference as an instructional teacher in a self-contained classroom for Kindergarten and 1st-grade students. You'll help shape the learning experiences of a small group of low-incident students, many of whom use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices as part of their educational journey.
Starting August 19th, your day will run from 8:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., giving you the structure sought by education professionals who value both engagement and consistency.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid PEL (Professional Educator License) with LBS1 Endorsement required
- Experience in special education or working within self-contained classrooms
- Familiarity with assistive technology, especially AAC device integration
- Strong communication and organizational skills to collaborate with students, staff, and families
- Dedication to individualized instruction and adaptive learning approaches
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver differentiated instruction to a classroom of approximately six Kindergarten and 1st-grade students with diverse needs
- Implement IEPs and work collaboratively with related service providers
- Incorporate assistive technology—especially AAC devices—into daily instruction and classroom routines
- Foster a nurturing and structured learning environment that builds both academic and social-emotional skills
- Partner with families and team members to support each child’s unique learning journey
