Administrative Assistant - Hospice & Home Care Specialist

General Summary: This role involves managing, planning, and directing office operations and fiscal activities within a hospice and home care setting. The position focuses on developing efficient systems and procedures to provide cost-effective, patient-centered clerical services andensure accurate, timely billing to payors. Responsibilities include monitoring accounts receivable status, overseeing supply requisitions, managing inventory, and supervising clerical staff involved in billing processes. Additionally, the role provides administrative and secretarial support for hospice and home care program administration and maintains computer functionality for staff. Essential Functions: The successful candidate will supervise staff by promoting effective communication, professional relationships, and accountability. They will maintain up-to-date professional, regulatory, and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, and networking. The role includes maintaining and providing input on Revenue Cycle Management Systems, Electronic Health Records, and other software related to billing, insurance verification, and data submission in compliance with regulations. The candidate will ensure accurate billing using appropriate codes and increments, identify and resolve issues proactively, and maintain compliance with federal, state, and private regulations including CMS requirements. They will also oversee payer eligibility, benefit processes, pre-certifications, and authorizations, ensuring staff adherence to these processes. Timely and accurate billing, accounts receivable follow-up, and completion of audits and reports are key responsibilities. The role requires adherence to HIPAA privacy and security regulations regarding Protected Health Information (PHI). Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required: Candidates should have excellent writing, computer (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and database management skills, along with strong math and reasoning abilities. Preferred Knowledge and Skills: An associate degree in Business or Medical Office, five years of medical office supervisory experience, and billing or coding experience in hospice or home care settings are preferred.
