Mig Welder

Arc and Mig Welding Operator

Sets-up and operates arc and mig welding equipment to weld frames to part print specifications to meet plant quality and production standards.

Essential Duties:

• Reads production order and part print to determine dimensions and retrieve fixtures, equipment, and parts.
• Welds approximately 60 different frame assemblies with some 275 variations.
• Inspects parts for deficient welds and compensates for material irregularities.
• Keeps production orders.

Other Duties:

• Grinds down deficient welds and rewelds correctly.
• Measures completed frames for accuracy and conformance to specifications using scales and square.
• Performs preventive maintenance on weld equipment.
• Maintains cleanliness of work area and follows safe work practice rules.
• Performs other miscellaneous duties as required.

Position Requirements:

• Education: Three months commercial, vocational, or other specialized training beyond high school.
• Experience: One year related work experience.

Physical Demands:

• Manual Dexterity: Work requires skilled, accurate, rapid, and some closely coordinated manual or other physical actions.
• Physical Effort: Work requires mostly moderate but some heavy muscular effort or difficult work positions.
• Working Conditions: Limited exposure to one or two extremely disagreeable features.
• Hazards: Exposure to hazards that may result in short term work-related absences.
