About the Position

We are seeking a skilled Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide locum coverage in a cardiac surgery hospital setting. This role primarily involves weekend coverage, supporting urgent cardiac surgeries, patient rounding, and post-operative care. You will work closely with attending surgeons for backup and support a dynamic inpatient population.

Practice Highlights:

• Hospital size: 163 beds
• Patient population: adults (18+)
• EMR system: EPIC
• Department focus: urgent cardiac surgery, ICU to home transitions, vein harvesting procedures
• Coverage: 3 weekends per month, 24-hour call (Friday 5 PM – Monday 7 AM)
• Average callback: 4 hours per day

Requirements

• Certified PA or NP
• Valid PA license
• DEA registration required
• Acute care certification NOT required
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
• Credentialing timeframe: 90 days (temporary coverage available with a clean file)
