We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Counselor to join our team at Vera's Family and Children Wellness Center, located in Hempstead, New York. Work Environment\n

This remote position allows for flexibility while being part of a dedicated outpatient psychiatric team. You will collaborate with seasoned child psychiatrists and licensed therapists to ensure comprehensive care for our patients. Our practice operates on a structured schedule, primarily Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts to accommodate patient needs.

Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough, comprehensive mental health evaluations to identify the needs of children and adolescents seeking care.

• Develop and implement tailored treatment plans that align with the patients’ developmental stages and familial contexts.

• Provide evidence-based therapy sessions, incorporating modalities like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and play therapy to address issues such as anxiety, depression, and ADHD.
\n
• Facilitate family therapy sessions aimed at engaging parents and caregivers in supporting their children's mental health journey.
\n
• Work in close collaboration with child psychiatrists to coordinate care and share insights on treatment progress and patient needs.
\n
• Respond to and manage crisis situations involving mental health emergencies among youth, ensuring effective intervention and support.
\n
• Educate families about mental health conditions, treatment methodologies, and available community resources to empower them in their therapeutic journey.
\n
• Document all patient interactions and assessments accurately, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and ethical standards, while maintaining confidentiality.
\n
• Engage in regular team meetings for case discussions, collaborative insights, and participation in ongoing professional development activities.
\n
• Stay updated on the latest research, therapeutic practices, and innovations in child and adolescent mental health to bring best practices to our care.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This role focuses on a diverse population of children and adolescents who may be dealing with a range of mental health challenges, including but not limited to anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and behavioral issues. You will work closely with both the patients and their families, taking a holistic approach to mental health that considers all aspects of the child's life, fosters resilience, and promotes healthy emotional development.

Qualifications\n

• A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.

• Current licensure as an LCSW, LCSW-R, LMHC, or LMFT in New York state is required.

• Minimum of two years of post-licensure clinical experience, with a strong emphasis on child and adolescent therapy.
\n
• Expert knowledge of child and adolescent mental health disorders and evidence-based treatment modalities is essential.

• Demonstrated experience in conducting individual and family therapy, specifically within a clinical setting focusing on youth.
\n
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with both children and their families in a compassionate manner.

• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and relevant software applications.

• A collaborative spirit and ability to function effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Compensation and Benefits\n
