Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Specialist for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Downey, CA. This role supports a manufacturing environment and is responsible for accurate weekly payroll processing for a nationwide employee population of up to 500+ employees, including union payroll.

The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will play a key role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while providing responsive support for payroll-related questions. This is a strong opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys a structured HR environment, collaborative teamwork, and the chance to contribute to reliable payroll operations across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

- Review, verify, and audit timesheets, hours worked, wage calculations, pay adjustments, and related payroll data to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Process weekly payroll, employee paychecks, earnings statements, deductions, direct deposits, and payroll adjustments.
- Maintain accurate employee records in the HRIS and process onboarding documentation for new hires.
- Assign employees in the Time and Labor module and ensure payroll data is properly prepared for payroll transfer.
- Respond to employee payroll questions regarding payable hours, commissions, bonuses, tax withholdings, deductions, and related payroll matters.
- Provide administrative support to HR functions related to benefits, hiring, payroll, and employee records.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $65,000 to $70,000 per year.
- Job type: Temp-to-hire.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Must be flexible and open to overtime as needed.
- Location: Downey, CA.
