Lead Chef/Cook

Excelcare at Wilmington is seeking an experienced, passionate, and dependable Lead Chef/Cook to oversee daily food preparation and meal service in our skilled nursing facility. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring residents receive nutritious, high-quality meals while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and customer service. The ideal candidate has previous culinary experience in healthcare, long-term care, hospitality, or institutional food service and enjoys creating a positive dining experience for residents. Location 2801 W 6th St, Wilmington, DE 19805 Lead Chef/Cook Benefits Health, Dental and Vision Insurance Paid time off, paid sick time and paid holidays 401(k) with up to 5% matching Daily pay option Employee-only discounts, perks and rewards programs Lead Chef/Cook Responsibilities Prepare and oversee the production of daily meals, snacks, and special diets Supervise and support dietary staff during meal preparation and service Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards Follow physician-ordered therapeutic diets and dietary restrictions Monitor food quality, presentation, portion control, and resident satisfaction Assist with menu planning, inventory management, and food ordering Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment Train and mentor dietary team members on proper food preparation and safety procedures Collaborate with dietary management and interdisciplinary teams to meet residents' nutritional needs Ensure all kitchen equipment is operated safely and maintained properly Lead Chef/Cook Qualifications Previous experience as a Lead Cook, Chef, Kitchen Supervisor, or similar culinary leadership role Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, assisted living, or institutional food service preferred Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation standards Ability to prepare meals for large groups while maintaining quality and consistency Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities ServSafe Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain) Excelcare is an equal opportunity employer.
