Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring 2+ years of current MICU experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

Work in a Medical ICU (MICU) treating adult and geriatric patients.

Common diagnoses include oncologic emergencies, COPD, pneumonia, ARDS, GI bleed, neuromuscular disease, drug overdose, pulmonary hypertension, autoimmune disorders, and sepsis.

Patients are hemodynamically compromised and require mechanical ventilation, pulmonary artery catheter placement, CRRT, arterial pressure monitoring, cardiac monitoring, chest tubes, central venous catheters, chemotherapy administration, and plasmapheresis.

Patients often require bronchoscopy or endoscopy for underlying pulmonary and GI conditions.

Patient ratio of 1:2.

Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM).

Epic EMR required.

Requirements

Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration.

Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.

Minimum 2 years of current acute care ICU experience, consistently worked within the last 12 months, specific to the specialty applied for.

Epic charting experience required.

Skills required: IV therapy, port access/management, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, IV starts, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator management, HFNC, ABG interpretation, suctioning, continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure.

EVD experience preferred.

Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program.

Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; second reference may be from a Charge RN; coworker references not accepted.

Additional Information

Provide critical care nursing to complex, hemodynamically unstable ICU patients, including chemotherapy administration and clinical trial participation.

May be scheduled for days, nights, or a rotating combination based on departmental needs, with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period.

First-time travelers will not be considered for this position.

Locals are accepted at the same rate.

Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more.

Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system.

RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less.

Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing their contract due to strict compliance timelines.
