Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Innovation Design Unit)

Contract (13 or 26-week options) | Days, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30) | 36 or 48-hour weekly options available

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to adult medical-surgical patients within an inpatient Innovation Design Unit (IDU) focused on testing and validating new models of care, technology, and facility design
• Practice within a primary nursing care model with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5 (days) and 1:5–6 (nights)
• Administer and manage IV drips as required across all floors
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team including CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics/swoop, and LPNs (unit dependent)
• Participate in and support ongoing unit innovations including virtual nursing, virtual sitter, ambient monitoring, interactive patient experience platforms, and real-time location systems
• Float frequently within scope to meet facility staffing needs , including to additional campus locations; travelers are first to float

Required Qualifications

• Active or pending RN license for the state of Nebraska (note: candidates with a pending license will be booked six weeks out if license is not in hand at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of Telemetry experience, obtained at a large, urban hospital
• Experience with IV drip administration required
• BLS certification required
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records required
• First-time travelers not accepted; exceptions may be considered for candidates with 2 or more years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
• Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification preferred
• Prior experience in a large, academic, or Level I trauma center setting
• Familiarity with progressive care or step-down patient populations
