Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 16 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required License: Must have valid state license at time of submission Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Minimum 1 year of current specialty experience Oncology experience preferred Description: This position involves caring for patients in the progressive care unit. The focus will be on newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients. The staff-to-patient ratio aims for 1:4, but it can be adjusted to 1:5 based on unit needs. Scheduling is flexible, with no set or blocked schedules. Self-schedule requests are accepted before finalizing the roster. The unit places a heavy emphasis on infection prevention protocols. Patient falls prevention is also a critical focus. Skills required include telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias. Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration is necessary. The use of computerized charting systems is required. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential for collaboration with interdisciplinary support. The daily census is approximately 22 patients, with a unit capacity of 24 beds.
