About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of high acuity PCU level or higher required License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Oncology experience preferred but not required Description: Comprehensive Cancer Center with multiple specialized inpatient units. Units focus on various cancer diagnoses, including acute leukemia, hematology, medical oncology, and surgical oncology. Responsibilities include floating to various medical-surgical and oncology units. Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention. Staffing ratios for PCU are 1:3, potentially 1:4 with mixed acuity. Self-scheduling requests are encouraged for preferred shifts. First week of orientation is scheduled for day shifts. Five shifts of bedside orientation will occur during weeks two and three before transitioning to independent practice. Experience in high acuity settings with skills in managing complex patient situations is essential. Required skills include administering chemotherapy, managing arterial lines, and performing telemetry monitoring. Candidates must meet experience requirements within the last three years, with at least one year of current specialty experience for a clinical pass. Compliance with credentialing processes is mandatory. Two professional references are required, with at least one from a managerial or leadership position. Education must be from an accredited nursing program.
