About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 16 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Must have a valid nursing license Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS Must-Have: Epic charting experience required Description: Float to various Oncology Medical-Surgical units as needed. Ensure staff safety in a secure corrections unit environment. Oncology experience preferred but not required. Nurse to patient ratio is 1:3 in Progressive Care Unit and 1:4-5 in Medical-Surgical. Some shifts will be assigned to Medical-Surgical, others to Progressive Care Unit. Weekend shifts vary based on unit requirements. Shifts may include days, nights, or a combination of both. Key responsibilities include interpreting and managing dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, and managing cardiac drips. Provide care for patients with active oncology diagnoses/treatments, including solid tumors and hematology. Experience with telemetry monitoring, blood product administration, central line and peripheral line care, and PICC line management is required. Ability to interpret arterial blood gases and manage hemodialysis is needed. Staff safety is a priority in this environment. Must meet experience requirements within the last 3 years. Candidates must be aware of the urgency of the fingerprinting process in the required location. Professional references are required, including one reference from a supervisor or manager. Vaccination for influenza is required with medical exemptions only. All candidates must have acquired experience within the last 3 years.
