Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make a lasting difference in the lives of students as a Special Education Teacher serving middle school students with mild to moderate needs on a full-time contract basis. This role runs from August 13, 2026, through June 3, 2027, offering a consistent weekday schedule—Monday through Friday, 7:15am to 3:15pm—for the academic year.

You’ll work in a self-contained special education setting, guiding and supporting a manageable caseload of 12 students. This hands-on position provides the rewarding opportunity to develop individualized educational plans, collaborate with colleagues, and help students reach their developmental milestones.

Qualifications:

• Current Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility) for the state of North Carolina
• Previous experience working with middle school students, particularly in a self-contained or intensive needs classroom, preferred
• Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and multidisciplinary teams
• Patience, creativity, and adaptability when addressing a variety of student needs

Responsibilities:

• Deliver tailored instruction to students with mild to moderate or intensive special needs
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Collaborate with general education teachers, aides, and related service providers
• Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with families
