Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations and assessments, documenting findings meticulously from the initial consultation through to the conclusion of treatment.

• Formulate individualized treatment and recovery plans that incorporate evidence-based practices and client-specific goals.
\n
• Lead engaging individual and group therapy sessions, adapting techniques to meet the diverse emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs of clients.

• Monitor client progress throughout treatment, providing ongoing support and modification of treatment plans as necessary.

• Collaborate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers to devise and implement coordinated intervention strategies.

• Ensure continuity of care by arranging appropriate referrals and follow-ups, particularly for clients transitioning to or from inpatient settings.

• Educate and guide family members and primary caregivers in understanding and managing mental health challenges affecting their loved ones.

• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in psychotherapy and mental health counseling to enhance your practice and ensure best outcomes for clients.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

As a mental health counselor at Avis Counseling Center, you will serve a diverse population comprising individuals facing various mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, and substance use disorders. Our focus is on providing culturally competent care to ensure that every client feels heard, respected, and empowered in their journey toward mental wellness.

Qualifications\n

• Possession of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LPC, or LCSW within the state of New Jersey.
\n
• A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counselor Examination (NCMHCE).

• Demonstrable experience as a mental health counselor, showcasing a comprehensive understanding of therapeutic techniques and client engagement.

• Proficiency in utilizing electronic health record systems, with experience in AVATAR being highly desirable.
\n
• Knowledge of the interplay between physical health and mental health, particularly relating to common physical ailments that coincide with psychological disorders.

Preferred Experience\n

• Background in treating addiction disorders and experience in relapse prevention strategies.

• Familiarity with best practices as outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective documentation and collaboration with healthcare teams.

• A compassionate demeanor with exceptional interpersonal skills, allowing for the development of trusting therapeutic relationships with clients.

Compensation and Benefits\n

This position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $80,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
