Support elementary students as a Special Education Teacher specializing in high-needs classrooms, focusing on learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This contract position runs from September 8, 2026, through June 8, 2027, with a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week. Located near Lakeville, MN, this opportunity welcomes both local and travel professionals who are committed to making a lasting impact on young learners.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Valid Minnesota teaching license with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) endorsement
- Experience working with elementary-aged students in a special education setting
- Proven ability to design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with instructional teams, support staff, and parents
- Commitment to serving high-needs students with energy and patience
- Openness to feedback and professional development
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction to elementary students with high needs, primarily those with ASD
- Create a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment
- Develop and implement IEPs, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Monitor student progress and adjust strategies to promote academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress
- Participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, and relevant professional development
- Maintain accurate records and follow district policies and procedures
