Special Education Teacher

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator provides quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12. The Special Education Teacher has a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance and consultation with general education staff.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred

• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations

• Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred

• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred

• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred

• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred

• Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred

• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

• Current CPR if applicable

• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age

2. Service model: Mix of push-in and pull-out

3. Caseload: ~8–18 students

4. Team: 4 teachers collaborating

5. Additional: 2 planning periods

6. Elementary (Grades 3–5) – Self-Contained (Mod/Severe)

7. Caseload: ~8–12 students

8. Support: 3 teaching assistants

9. Student needs: Primarily nonverbal, autism, behavior

10. Elementary (Grades K–5) – Resource Setting

11. Team: 2 teachers sharing caseload

12. Caseload: ~17 students total

13. Coverage: All grade levels

14. Elementary (Grades 3–5) – Resource/Support Role

15. Caseload: ~8–15 students

16. Service model: Push-in and pull-out

17. Team: 3 teachers working collaboratively

18. Middle School (Grades 6–8) – Resource/Support Role

19. Caseload: ~8–18 students

20. Team: 4 teachers collaborating

21. Elementary (Grades K–5) – Self-Contained + Resource Blend

22. Caseload: ~8–12 students

23. Team: 2 teachers

24. Support: 1 teaching assistant
