Position Description

Duties

• Process vendor invoices and ensure proper approvals are obtained before payment.
• Perform account reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
• Manage the payment cycle, including checks, ACH transfers, and credit card transactions.
• Maintain vendor relationships and resolve discrepancies related to billing or payments.
• Assist with month-end closing activities, including journal entries and general ledger reconciliation.
• Ensure compliance with SOX regulations and internal controls related to accounts payable.
• Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Workday, or Paychex for data entry and reporting.
• Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations regarding accounts payable transactions.
• Collaborate with HR on payroll management and benefits administration as needed.
• Stay updated on tax regulations and assist with tax-related inquiries.

Position Requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience in accounts payable or a similar role within corporate accounting or public accounting environments.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and financial concepts.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft) and HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Kronos).
• Familiarity with double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, and account reconciliation processes.
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate data entry and reporting.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines.
• Knowledge of governmental accounting practices is a plus; experience in non-profit accounting is also beneficial.
