About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2+ years of recent PCU experience required License: Valid state or compact nursing license required Certifications: BLS and ACLS required Must-Have: - Previous charge RN experience preferred - Experience with similar patient population preferred - Teaching hospital experience preferred Description: 22 beds in the unit with an average daily census of 20. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics. Common cases involve burns, plastic and reconstructive surgery, urology, gynecology, ENT, and oral/maxillofacial surgeries. Special procedures include burn dressings, flap checks, and leech therapy. Nurses will work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Floating within the organization is required as needed. Every other or third weekend is required. The unit utilizes EPIC documentation and the Pyxis medication system. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation. Patient diagnoses encompass burns, plastic surgery (abdomen wall reconstruction, flaps, leech therapy), urology, gynecology surgeries, ENT, and oral/max surgeries. The unit practices various special procedures, including leech therapy, flap checks, and burn dressings. Candidates should be familiar with various clinical skills, including arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, feeding tube management, and hemodynamic monitoring.
