Job Opportunity – Surgical Oncology Progressive Care Unit RN – Ohio

Start Date: October 19, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour shifts, Days/Nights or Nights only (rotating schedule based on unit needs); staffing ratio goal 1:4, may be 1:5; weekend shifts variable based on department requirements; 16-week assignment

Highlights:

• Mixed acuity unit caring for both Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Medical-Surgical patients with a focus on surgical oncology
• Diverse patient population including breast, thyroid, melanoma, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastic/reconstructive surgical patients
• 72-hour orientation with Epic EMR system; 36-bed unit with comprehensive interdisciplinary support
• Experience with chemotherapy, blood transfusions, oncologic emergencies, insulin/heparin drips, and chest tube management
• Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient safety measures
• Floating within scope of practice to other acute care oncology units may be required

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years acute care nursing experience with at least 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
• Current, consistent acute care experience within the last 12 months required
• Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license in hand at time of submission)
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Education from ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• 2 professional references required (at least 1 from manager/director or formal leadership role)
• Skills required: BiPAP/CPAP management, cardiac telemetry, chest tube care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, tracheostomy care
