Job Summary

The Direct Care Staff Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and performance of direct care staff within the residential treatment center, ensuring the safety, structure, and therapeutic environment for youth with behavioral, emotional, and trauma-related needs. This role involves direct supervision of staff, crisis intervention, training, and ensuring compliance with all state licensing regulations and trauma-informed care principles. The supervisor plays a key role in supporting staff in managing challenging behaviors while fostering a positive and healing environment for residents.

Key Responsibilities

Supervision & Staff Leadership

• Provide hands-on leadership, guidance, and mentorship to direct care staff to ensure the highest quality of care and supervision for residents.
• Manage staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts, including crisis response as needed.
• Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and implement corrective action plans when necessary.
• Facilitate staff meetings, ensuring team cohesion and continuous communication regarding resident needs and program updates.
• Model and enforce trauma-informed and therapeutic intervention techniques.

Resident Care & Safety

• Ensure direct care staff provide individualized, developmentally appropriate supervision and support for youth based on treatment plans.
• Oversee implementation of behavior management strategies, ensuring consistency in therapeutic interventions.
• Monitor staff adherence to trauma-informed care principles, de-escalation techniques, and crisis intervention strategies.
• Respond to behavioral incidents, providing immediate crisis support and guidance to staff and residents.
• Promote a culture of dignity and respect, ensuring youth feel safe and supported in their environment.

Training & Development

• Train and mentor direct care staff in trauma-informed care, behavioral intervention, and crisis management techniques.
• Ensure all staff members complete required trainings in behavior intervention, de-escalation techniques, and therapeutic communication.
• Provide ongoing coaching to improve staff competency in managing complex behavioral needs.
• Support new hires in their onboarding and integration into the residential care setting.

Program & Compliance Oversight

• Ensure all care practices align with state licensing regulations, accreditation standards, and program policies.
• Oversee accurate and timely documentation of incident reports, behavioral logs, and shift reports.
• Conduct periodic audits of resident care plans, staff logs, and program procedures to maintain compliance.
• Work closely with clinical, case management, and administrative teams to ensure consistent and effective service delivery.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 6-10 years of experience working in a residential treatment center or therapeutic group home serving youth with behavioral and emotional challenges.
• At least 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a related setting preferred.
• Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, behavioral management, and crisis intervention strategies.
• Experience working with youth with a history of trauma, emotional and/ or at-risk behaviors.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and on-call responsibilities as needed.
• Must pass a background check, drug screening, and meet all state licensing requirements.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Ability to engage in physical interventions when necessary to ensure safety.
• Frequent standing, walking, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Exposure to high-stress situations requiring patience, resilience, and strong emotional regulation.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and compassion.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

• CPS investigator experience
• strong Knowledge of GRO minimum standard
• Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), Trust Based Relationship Intervention (TBRI) or similar de-escalation techniques.
• First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
• Familiarity with state licensing regulations and child's rights.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred not required.

Saint Georgia, LLC GRO is a General Residential Operation that serves teenagers between the ages of 7 and 17 and who has been diagnose with some type of Emotional Disorder.
