Physics Expert for AI Training

Role Overview

Apply advanced physics expertise to help train next-generation AI systems through rigorous, real-world scientific problem solving. You will deliver clear, research-quality analyses that shape how models learn, reason, and perform. Prior AI experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Solve advanced physics problems in your area of specialization, providing rigorous and well-documented derivations and analyses.
• Produce technically precise written solutions using LaTeX, with assumptions, approximations, and final results clearly stated.
• Use SymPy, Python, and Jupyter for symbolic or numerical verification and transparent computational workflows when relevant.
• Identify important nuances in problem statements, including special cases, boundary conditions, and dimensional consistency.
• Flag ambiguities in project materials and propose well-reasoned interpretations or clarifications.
• Revise submitted work in response to reviewer feedback, integrating corrections cleanly.
• Maintain professional research standards for documentation and reproducibility.

Qualifications

• PhD in physics or advanced-stage PhD candidacy with active research experience in a relevant subfield.
• Research expertise in one or more of the following: high energy physics, mathematical physics, biophysics, statistical physics, condensed matter, including moiré systems, magnetism, and PXP/Rydberg, AMO or quantum optics, gravitation, cosmology, astrophysics, quantum information, or optical properties of materials.
• 2 to 5 representative publications from approximately the past 5 years, with accessible arXiv or DOI records.
• Strong physics mastery, technical problem-solving ability, mathematical and computational fluency, and written technical communication skills.
• Proficiency with LaTeX, SymPy, Python, and Jupyter, plus willingness to identify areas where further support would be helpful.
• A record of producing clear, precise, well-argued scientific work and the ability to isolate key physical principles in complex problems.

Work Terms

• Remote, independent contractor engagement.
• Consistent availability for an 8 to 10 week project period, approximately 10 hours per week.

Compensation

$80 to $140 per hour.
