Work Environment

You will work onsite at a local school, providing accessible health care to students during school hours. The work setting will allow you to engage with children in a familiar environment while partnering closely with parents and educational staff to address health concerns. The role requires dedication and resilience, as you'll frequently juggle multiple tasks, making critical decisions on health care delivery tailored to each child's unique needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough physical examinations and review students' medical histories to ensure comprehensive understanding of patient health.
• Order and analyze diagnostic tests such as blood tests and imaging studies (e.g., X-rays) to determine health conditions.
• Diagnose acute and chronic health issues, devising tailored treatment plans that encompass medication management and lifestyle modifications.
• Educate students and their families on health conditions, treatment protocols, and preventive measures to promote overall well-being.
• Prescribe appropriate medications and maintain detailed records of patient interactions and treatment plans.
• Collaborate with a diverse team of 5 MDs and 5 other NPs, sharing knowledge and strategies to enhance patient care delivery.
• Manage patient follow-ups and ongoing care to track progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
• Engage in community outreach and health education programs, addressing prevention strategies for common childhood illnesses and health concerns.
• Contribute to the development of school health policies and programs aimed at enhancing student health and well-being.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role will focus on a diverse patient population consisting mainly of school-age children. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will be the primary health care provider for students, addressing a wide range of medical issues from routine check-ups to more complex health concerns. Your ability to connect with children and understand their unique needs will be crucial in creating a supportive environment for their health care.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Master's degree in Nursing with a Nurse Practitioner specialization.
• A valid Maryland State Nurse Practitioner license is required, with ANP or FNP credentials.
• Holding a current DEA registration is mandatory.
• Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care with a focus on promoting health and wellness.
• Exceptional communication skills to convey medical information clearly to patients and families.
• Strong ethics and professionalism in handling sensitive patient information.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of practical experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a clinical or educational setting, preferably within primary care.
• Experience with pediatric or adolescent patients is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, particularly in an educational environment.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus, as they enhance communication with a diverse student population.

Compensation and Benefits

This full-time position offers a competitive salary ranging from USD 130,000 to 150,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
