Associate Director for Clinical Education - Open Rank Instructor - Professor

Job Summary The Associate Director of Clinical Education ensures that stakeholders understand and support the coordination and expectations unique to the Physician Scientist training pathway and facilitates students’ progress to successful academic research careers. In this leadership role, the Associate Director serves on the MSTP T32 award Executive Committee, participates in various School of Medicine and Graduate School committees, coordinates curriculum integration across training phases, and advises students through the program. The role includes oversight of MSTP Foundations of Doctoring, Capstone Clinical, Trailhead, and Return-to-Clinics courses and collaboration with the Clinical Associate Program Director and MSTP administrative team. Key Responsibilities MSTP Leadership and Administration (25%) Attend bi-monthly MSTP Executive Committee meetings and serve as a voting member. Present policy proposals, updates, and student progress at Executive Committee and leadership meetings. Meet monthly with the MSTP Program Director to review key initiatives. Represent MSTP on the School of Medicine Curriculum Steering Committee. Advise on medical-phase policies and lead revisions as needed. Participate in admissions and recruitment functions, interview prospective students, and attend recruitment events. Assist with grant applications (T32, R13) and provide curricular content for grant renewals. Attend annual MSTP events and related conferences on behalf of the program. Academic Advising and Progress Support (25%) Serve on thesis committees and provide regular advisory sessions. Prepare letters of recommendation for F30/F31 grant applications. Oversee transitions from Trek to graduate school and from thesis completion to clinical MD training. Monitor academic progress, plan return-to-thesis and elective selections, and support residency application processes. Write Supplemental Letters for ERAS MSPE collaboration. Participate in seminars and pre-thesis advising as required. Course Direction (25%) Serve as course director for MSTP foundations of doctoring, clinical capstone, and trailhead electives. Oversee scheduling, grading, and faculty recruitment. Revise course syllabi annually and track student completion. Program Representation (25%) Act as primary liaison to School of Medicine and medical school leadership. Advocate for physician‑scientist education with curriculum deans. Recruit new preceptors and identify faculty for MSTP courses. Advises medical-phase students on core medical school policies. Attend monthly MD Curriculum Steering Committee meetings. Work Location Onsite – located in Aurora, CO. Salary and Benefits The salary range is $25,000 to $50,000, representing 0.20 FTE, with benefits provided by the University of Colorado. The final offer will be capped at $250,000 annually and depend on the candidate’s current 1.0 FTE salary. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Doctoral degree in Medicine (M.D., D.O.) or equivalent. Clinically active physician. Faculty member at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus or eligible to obtain appointment. Appointment in the MSTP Program, Graduate School, and clinical/ hospital settings. Preferred Qualifications MD/PhD dual degree, especially from an integrated MSTP/MD‑PhD program. Active research program in translational or basic science. Experience with the MD curriculum, leadership, and administration at the University of Colorado. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Experience working with MSTP students, medical students, residents/fellows, and graduate students. Experience on the MSTP admissions committee and student recruitment. Experience advising medical students and residency applicants. Course design, seminar planning, and educational evaluation expertise.
